Where Do Those Weird Pharmaceutical Names Come From?

September 14, 2026 Terrence Bogie

I used to spend days and weeks and months in the hospital. You do things to pass the time. I liked word puzzles. In that environment of word puzzles and pharmaceutical names, I developed a strong theory to answer that question.

Word searches.

It’s word searches. These people are obviously paid big money to find nonsensical drug names in word searches.

If you’ve got time to kill, have fun with this word search. It has ten fall-themed words to find, but also ten of the most commonly advertised pharmaceutical brands. You can hit the view solution/cheat button when you are done or now if you don’t want to play. Notice how those drug names fit right in there like typical filler content in a word search.

I see at least ten more potential drug names in the filler letters here: try QNEEBD allergy nasal spray; BOLEA for heartburn; once daily JEVYAR prevents afternoon squinty eyes; QUISRA helps people with moderate-to-severe disinterest in game shows; FRADZLYO combined with TEBMATM has been proven to be an effective treatment for people with occasional itchy ears; ask your doctor it INETBRE may be right for you; ZOFEOSRO treats skin tags at the source; take BMAT-Q at the first sign of upset stomach; and finally NACOZASDAZ could be a breakthrough chemotherapy.

Love word searches? Here’s an NFL one.

I’ll start you with three new drug names: NUKYUDL-VR is the as-needed injection you take when your VR headset disrupts your equilibrium; when a migraine starts, find your FROXVO; and remember, people who are allergic to WYZUSOR or any of its ingredients should not take WYZUSOR.

Send me any good ones you find at bogiewebstpaul.com.

p.s. If you really love word searches, I built a quick word search engine that lets me create 18×18 word searches. Crunch all you want, I can make more.

I had my AI whip up a quick ad for NUKYUDL-VR.
If you have invented NUKYUDL-VR and want to advertise, I’ll make a campaign for real!
